Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program for Weight Loss Medications
Helping Medicare patients access GLP-1 medications through Medicare Part D or the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program for Weight Loss with expert medical guidance
What Is the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program?
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program is a new demonstration program created by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to help eligible Medicare beneficiaries access FDA-approved GLP-1 medications for weight management.
Before the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, Medicare generally covered GLP-1 medications only when they were prescribed for certain medical conditions, such as Type 2 diabetes, moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Patients who wanted GLP-1 medications solely for weight loss often had to pay out of pocket.
Beginning July 1, 2026, eligible Medicare beneficiaries who do not qualify for GLP-1 coverage through traditional Medicare Part D may instead qualify through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program. This CMS demonstration expands access to FDA-approved weight loss medications, including Wegovy® (semaglutide), Zepbound® (tirzepatide KwikPen), and Foundayo®, for patients who meet the program’s eligibility requirements. Eligible beneficiaries pay a $50 monthly copay for covered medications under the program.
*Eligibility depends on CMS clinical criteria, your medical history, your body mass index (BMI), and other qualifying health conditions. During your evaluation, our medical team will determine whether you’re more likely to qualify through traditional Medicare Part D or through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program and guide you through the appropriate Prior Authorization process. Prior Authorization Support
Insurance approval can be confusing, but you don't have to navigate it alone.

These follow-up visits help identify challenges early, celebrate your progress, and keep you moving toward your goals.
Monthly Provider Follow-Up Visits
You'll continue seeing your physician or nurse practitioner every month while participating in the program.
During these visits, your provider will:
- Review your progress

Regular provider follow-up helps ensure your treatment remains both safe and effective.

Patients who attend regular follow-up visits often find it easier to:
- Stay motivated
- Build healthier eating habits
- Increase physical activity
- Overcome setbacks before they become obstacles
- Stay consistent with their treatment plan
- Achieve long-term weight loss success
Having a healthcare team that knows your goals and monitors your progress can make a meaningful difference throughout your journey.
